Do I need to book an appointment?
Yes, an appointment is necessary, since Dream It Yourself operates on a by appointment only basis. By booking an appointment, we can focus on providing you a unique and privileged moment with your loved ones. We privatize the showroom for each bride !
How do I book a fitting appointment at Dream It Yourself?
It is possible to book a fitting appointment simply by using the button “Prendre rendez-vous” at the bottom left. You can choose the day and time of the appointment that suits you the best with this booking tool. We can also use this link.
Do I have to pay for an appointment?
How my appointment is going to go?
First of all, we will receive you and your family around a cup of tea or coffee. We will start the appointment with an exchange on your wishes, your budget and your inspirations. This will allow us to select your favourite dresses from our selection.
The fittings will allow you to project yourself in the style of dress you are looking for… to ideally find THE dress!
If you have a crush on a dress, when you are ready to confirm your choice, we will take your measures. In this way, your dress can be created specifically for you!
What should I bring for the fitting?
If possible, you should wear a strapless bra, wear nude or light undergarments. In order not to stain the dresses, we ask that you come with bare or minimal makeup. If not for the pair of heels that you plan on wearing on your wedding date, we recommend that you bring a pair of heels at the height you plan to wear.
Who should I bring with me to the appointment?
Choosing your wedding dress is an important step and involves a lot of emotions. You should be enjoying the process since the focus should remain on you, the bride to be! That is why we recommend that you bring the key people in your life, whose opinions you value (idealy 3 loved ones)
What is the cost of a dress at Dream It Yourself?
Our dresses start at 1800$ + taxes. Whatever your budget, you will be received you with the same attention and kindness! We adapt to our brides and make sure to offer them a selection that matches the price they wish to invest in their dress, without any value judgment.
Our prices are not fixed according to your profile and are non-negotiable. We are completely transparent about the origin of our dresses, the designers and the materials used.
When should I start shopping for my wedding dress?
We recommend shopping for your wedding gown as early as 8 to 10 months before the wedding date.
When should I order my wedding dress?
The lead time varies by designers, but since we mostly work with independent designers, they can be more flexible on delays. We recommend that you find your wedding dress at least 8 months before the wedding date.
8 months gives us enough time to receive the dress within 6 months, as well as 2 months for the dress to get altered stress free. That being said, we are often able to place rush orders for your wedding dress at an additional fee.
What are the sample sizes in store?
Our sample gowns range from size 8 to 12. The reason why most of our sample gowns are a size 10 is that we want to go for the average sizing and be able to fit as many women as possible. We like to consider ourselves as experts at pinning and clipping dresses to fit so please do not worry about sizing. Your own dress will be made for your body, there are no size restrictions!
Many of the designers we carry offer plus sizes as well and we have a selection of sample dresses in size 18 and 22.
What happens when I say YES TO THE DRESS?
Once you have found your gown, we will take measurements and work with you to determine the best size. A non-refundable 80% deposit is required to place the order on your gown.
It will take approximately 4 to 6 months for it to arrive, depending on the dress designer. Once your gown arrives at the boutique, we will schedule a second appointment for you to meet your dress. During this appointment, you’ll get to try on your specific dress – it is also the perfect moment to try any accessories, or the shoes you are planning to wear on your wedding day. At this time, we will also schedule your first fitting with our in-house alterations professionals.
Do I need alterations ?
Every dress need alterations! Concretely, when we receive your dress to your size, a fitting is planned in our showroom in the presence of our dressmaker. Together we define the alterations to be made and we ensure that you are satisfied with your dress. Following this appointment, an estimate will be sent to you by our seamstress.
Our dressmakers are experienced in wedding dress modifications. However, you are completely free to choose another seamstress if you want.
How much alterations cost?
We do not cover your alterations. It varies from bride to bride depending on the choice of your dress and your size.
Contacting our dressmaker is a free service that we offer to all our brides. We do not take any commission on alterations billed by our seamstress to reduce the cost of this service.
Is there parking places nearby?
Yes, there are some paid parking spots nearby. However, keep in mind that we are located in Old Montreal! Dream It Yourself is very much accessible from public transportation, a few minutes walk from Place d’armes metro station.
What payment options are accepted?
We accept cash, cheques, credit cards and interac transfers.
Is it possible to get a refund or cancel an order?
Once you have selected your dress, it is made to your measures. No refund or cancellation is possible, that’s why we give you time to think before making your choice!
